In 2021, the siblings behind Alto del Vapor, Delfina, Eduardo, and Dalila, faced one of the most challenging decisions of their lives: to sell their heritage or to begin adding value to their coffee farms.
They bravely chose to stand firm. Although they are only the second generation of coffee growers, they have already mastered some of the most intricate drying processes, including washed, honey, natural, anaerobic, and even aerobic methods. Through their dedication, they’ve produced some of the finest coffees in the Tarrazú region.
Despite challenges like COVID, climate change, and rising local costs, their hard work has propelled them forward, always innovating with excellence, passion, and love for their craft.
In addition to their outstanding processing techniques, they are deeply committed to sustainable production, carefully preserving resources with the goal of achieving a zero ecological footprint. For instance, they conserve 80% of their 200-hectare farm as a protected area, which is crucial since it contains a primary source of drinking water for the community.
