Tropic Gisanga - Rwanda - Filter Coffee
Gisanga Coffee is grown in Mbuye sector, Ruhango district in the southern province of Rwanda, one of the best regions of Rwanda’s central plateau with an altitude of 1,650 – 1,850 m.a.s.l. Tropic Coffee works currently with 850 producers that produces 650 tons of coffee cherries per season. Over 45% of their coffee farmers are women and they process their cherries separately at their coffee station while the profits of these coffees go into supporting women and their community groups to empower them with better health, education and livelihood. Empowering rural women in the coffee sector is a pillar of coffee sector and a dream of their founder, Divine Mutuyimana, a young entrepreneurial woman in the coffee industry of Rwanda.
Farmers are trained to harvest and handpick only ripen coffee cherries while delivering them daily to washing station by foot or bicycle.
