Deep in the high-altitude landscapes of the Gedeo zone, within the Gedeb district of Ethiopia, 356 small-holder farmers tend their plots in the villages of Chelchele, Agamsa, Lalesa, and Dulaa. Beyond cultivating essential food crops, these families nurture coffee plants amidst semi-forest vegetation, a tradition deeply woven into their daily lives. These hand-selected cherries are brought to the Lalesa drying station, where they undergo the classic natural process, preserving the vibrant character defined by the region’s rich, fertile red soil.
The result is a sophisticated cup that captures the wild spirit of Ethiopian heirloom varieties. With an SCA score of 87+, it offers a velvety, round mouthfeel and an expressive profile defined by delicate floral notes, sweet blueberry, strawberry, and stone fruit.
